Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall C+
ValueF NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The 49ers left with their quarterback, and a C+ to match.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The 49ers did exactly that with Jaylon Braxton in the Round 4 slot. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

Drew Allar gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Getting Proctor where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.

So much rides on Drew Allar that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Drew Allar
In the 27th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kadyn Proctor
Kadyn Proctor in slot 58 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66 Rnd3 Olaivavega Ioane
The board fumbled Olaivavega Ioane all the way to Round 3, Pick 2, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Josiah Trotter
They barely believed it either: Josiah Trotter still on the board at No. 92. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick101 Rnd4 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia at the 101st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick127 Rnd4 Eli Raridon
Eli Raridon in pick 127 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jaylon Braxton
A big swing on Jaylon Braxton at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick138 Rnd4 Cyrus Allen
Cyrus Allen at Round 4, Pick 38 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140 Rnd5 Vincent Anthony Jr.
They talked themselves into Vincent Anthony Jr. at the 140th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick171 Rnd5 Jaeden Roberts
They will replay Jaeden Roberts at pick 171 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
