The rest of the league had time to spare on Jayden Ballard; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 101 spots ahead at slot 257. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Lew. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
