Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D+
ValueF NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers have some explaining to do: D+.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The 49ers took Shamar Easter a full 204 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Everette makes the weekend a net positive.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Shamar Easter
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a red-zone target to build around, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick58 Rnd2 Gracen Halton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gracen Halton in pick 58, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92 Rnd3 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ar'maj Reed-Adams. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick127 Rnd4 Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick133 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
Taking Bishop Fitzgerald in slot 133 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick138 Rnd4 Fernando Carmona
Value said wait; Fernando Carmona in pick No. 138 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171 Rnd5 Michael Harris
A real head-scratcher, Michael Harris in the 171st pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
