Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D+
ValueF NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Back to the drawing board for the Browns: D+.

The Browns clearly saw something nobody else did in Tony Rojas, taking him 250 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.

However the rest shakes out, Johnson at that price is a win they earned. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 PJ Williams
In slot 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick24 Rnd1 Malachi Fields
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tony Rojas
Tony Rojas at the 39th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at pick 70 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Trinidad Chambliss
They went early on Trinidad Chambliss in No. 107, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick140 Rnd5 Daylen Everette
Somehow Daylen Everette was still sitting there in pick No. 140, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick145 Rnd5 Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson in Round 5, Pick 6 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick148 Rnd5 Kevin Jennings
A real head-scratcher, Kevin Jennings in the 148th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick205 Rnd6 Colbie Young
Colbie Young in slot 205 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jason Henderson. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
