Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueD NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureA
Good, not great, for the Browns: B-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Browns spent the Round 4 slot on Shilo Sanders, a name most had 187 spots down the list. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ersery. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Tytus Howard pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a bendy edge with upside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Matthew Golden
Taking Matthew Golden in the 33rd pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Milroe well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67 Rnd3 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in pick 67 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94 Rnd3 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in No. 94 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick104 Rnd4 Shilo Sanders
This one needs a full-page explanation: Shilo Sanders in the 104th overall pick, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at pick No. 179 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick192 Rnd6 Aireontae Ersery
You do not let an offensive lineman like Aireontae Ersery reach the 192nd overall pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick216 Rnd6 Seth McLaughlin
They barely believed it either: Seth McLaughlin still on the board at Round 6, Pick 40. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
