Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent pick No. 38 on Dante Dowdell, a name the board had a full 245 spots lower. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Johnson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
