Good, not great, for the Commanders: B-. The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Trey Moore, 30 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Metcalf at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Braylan Shelby
In the 24th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all.
Pick88
Rnd3
Oscar Delp
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Oscar Delp. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick163
Rnd5
Trey Moore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Moore this early at pick No. 163. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick202
Rnd6
TJ Metcalf
Somehow TJ Metcalf was still sitting there in the 202nd pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick237
Rnd7
Noah Thomas
Noah Thomas at Round 7, Pick 21 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
