FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Dolphins to a D+. Somebody took the Dolphins to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They are betting Burks proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Haulcy pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The veteran additions, Kyler Murray chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Christen Miller
A tidy little value on Christen Miller in pick No. 25, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick46
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Nothing to complain about; Sonny Styles went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick77
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
A quiet steal in the 77th overall pick: Antonio Williams for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick85
Rnd3
Deion Burks
Deion Burks in slot 85 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick86
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
Somehow A.J. Haulcy was still sitting there in pick 86, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick112
Rnd4
Monroe Freeling
Monroe Freeling in the 112th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jyaire Hill
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jyaire Hill at No. 154. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick227
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
Shamar Easter at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
