Draft Grade — Ravens

FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Arnold in the fold, and a D for the Ravens. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Ravens reached some 192 spots for Jackson Arnold, and value like that does not grow back. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Jackson Arnold is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Jackson Arnold
In pick No. 3 they get a franchise quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Xavier Chaplin
In pick 18 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick70
Rnd3
Olaivavega Ioane
A reach for Olaivavega Ioane in slot 70; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick142
Rnd5
James Smith
They reached into another round for James Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick145
Rnd5
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at No. 145 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick167
Rnd5
Kalil Alexander
Kalil Alexander at the 167th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick255
Rnd7
Noah Thomas
A wild overpay on Noah Thomas in pick 255, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
