Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesC FutureC+
The jury is out on the Cowboys. For now, C+.

The Haynes King selection is the head-turner. The Cowboys reached 23 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Getting Campbell where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

If Romello Height and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Romello Height
In pick 20 they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. Need was not the driver here.
Pick33 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Anthony Hill Jr. at the 33rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at slot 44 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
A tidy little value on D'Angelo Ponds in No. 112, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick178 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 39, where DJ Campbell graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick215 Rnd6 Lawson Luckie
No drama and no debate, Lawson Luckie went about where he belonged in the 215th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick221 Rnd7 Ahmaad Moses
Ahmaad Moses at slot 221 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick225 Rnd7 Haynes King
They left a pile of value on the table to take Haynes King this early at pick 225. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
