If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jalen Thompson at the 231st overall pick is 65 spots clear of where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Allar to cover a lot of smaller sins. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
