The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the C tells the story. The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. PJ Williams went at the Round 7 slot, a good 56 picks before the board was ready. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Love pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 12 they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick15
Rnd1
Cashius Howell
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get juice off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick150
Rnd5
Bud Clark
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bud Clark. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan in slot 177 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick215
Rnd6
Diego Pavia
The board had cheaper options than Diego Pavia at the 215th overall pick, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick221
Rnd7
PJ Williams
PJ Williams in slot 221 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick225
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jerry Wilson well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
