Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Cowboys this weekend: C-.

Nobody had Trey Holly this high, and it is not close. The Cowboys reached 34 spots to get him at pick 221.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Hit on Avieon Terrell and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In the 20th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
No drama and no debate, Anthony Hill Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 1. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick44 Rnd2 CJ Allen
They did well to land CJ Allen in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick89 Rnd3 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. in No. 89 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in pick 112 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick151 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
No edge and no loss on Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 151; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick178 Rnd5 Kobe Baynes
Nothing to complain about; Kobe Baynes went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick215 Rnd6 Lawson Luckie
A reach for Lawson Luckie in the 215th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick221 Rnd7 Trey Holly
Trey Holly at slot 221 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225 Rnd7 Haynes King
A real head-scratcher, Haynes King in Round 7, Pick 9 is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
