The Cowboys let Tyson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. When a board-topper like Jordyn Tyson slides to slot 242, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Yetur Gross-Matos gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Every board in the league had Howell lower, and that gap is the story.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Cashius Howell
In the 21st overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. More want than need.
Pick31
Rnd1
David Bailey
In No. 31 they get juice off the edge at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick47
Rnd2
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese in Round 2, Pick 15 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jermod McCoy
They barely believed it either: Jermod McCoy still on the board at the 95th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick115
Rnd4
Spencer Fano
Somehow Spencer Fano was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick131
Rnd4
Mansoor Delane
They robbed the room for Mansoor Delane here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick139
Rnd4
Dante Moore
Dante Moore at pick No. 139 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick155
Rnd5
Jonah Coleman
Taking Jonah Coleman in pick 155 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick171
Rnd5
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at the 171st pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick176
Rnd5
Michael Taaffe
Circle this one: Michael Taaffe at the 176th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick179
Rnd5
Keon Sabb
A safety of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 39 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick212
Rnd6
A'Mauri Washington
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like A'Mauri Washington reach pick No. 212 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick221
Rnd7
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in slot 221 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233
Rnd7
Connor Lew
They will replay Connor Lew at pick 233 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jordyn Tyson
The board fumbled Jordyn Tyson all the way to No. 242, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250
Rnd7
DeMonte Capehart
Steal is underselling it; DeMonte Capehart at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick253
Rnd7
Colton Hood
Colton Hood in pick No. 253 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick257
Rnd7
Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah at Round 7, Pick 42 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
