The Cowboys got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.
Clark has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. However the rest shakes out, Daniels at that price is a win they earned.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In pick No. 12 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick22
Rnd1
T.J. Parker
In the 22nd pick they get a disruptor off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
Pick86
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
No drama and no debate, Jacob Rodriguez went about where he belonged in the 86th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore at slot 112 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Taking Jack Endries in Round 4, Pick 17 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick134
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150
Rnd5
Bud Clark
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bud Clark in No. 150, miles early. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick177
Rnd5
Charles Jagusah
No edge and no loss on Charles Jagusah in pick 177; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jalon Daniels
Circle this one: Jalon Daniels at pick No. 215 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick221
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in the 221st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick225
Rnd7
PJ Williams
By-the-book stuff, PJ Williams at the 225th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
