FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and McNeil-Warren: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 62 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Murdock left real value on the table behind him. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In pick 12 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Taking Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in slot 62 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick94
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Value with a capital V on Malik Muhammad in Round 3, Pick 30, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Justin Joly
A tidy bit of business in No. 112, where Justin Joly graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick150
Rnd5
Red Murdock
They jumped the gun on Red Murdock, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick177
Rnd5
Bud Clark
They paid sticker price for Bud Clark in the 177th overall pick, and that is fine. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick215
Rnd6
PJ Williams
A reach for PJ Williams in pick No. 215; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick221
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
They did well to land J. Michael Sturdivant in the Round 7 slot, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick225
Rnd7
Joey Aguilar
Fair-plus on Joey Aguilar, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
