Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
The Cowboys got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. The rest of the league had time to spare on Joey Aguilar; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 60 spots ahead at the Round 7 slot. Put together, it is a D.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 12th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick26
Rnd1
Brandon Cisse
In the 26th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
No edge and no loss on Jacob Rodriguez in Round 3, Pick 27; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Justin Joly
Nothing to complain about; Justin Joly went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick150
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at pick 150 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick177
Rnd5
Bud Clark
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bud Clark. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick191
Rnd6
Pat Coogan
They took Pat Coogan at par in pick No. 191, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jamal Haynes
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jamal Haynes in Round 7, Pick 5, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick225
Rnd7
Joey Aguilar
A big swing on Joey Aguilar at pick 225, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
