Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
The Cowboys bled value on every deal, hence the D+. The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Jacob Rodriguez went at slot 67, a good 97 picks before the board was ready. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the 15th overall pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, and a steal at that.
Pick28
Rnd1
Romello Height
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. Need was not the driver here.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
A real head-scratcher, Jacob Rodriguez in the 67th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115
Rnd4
Earl Little Jr.
Earl Little Jr. in pick No. 115 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick155
Rnd5
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
They reached into another round for Jermaine Mathews Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick178
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at slot 178 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick179
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216
Rnd7
Jamal Haynes
Jamal Haynes in the 216th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick229
Rnd7
Roderick Kearney
Roderick Kearney in slot 229 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
