Back to the drawing board for the Vikings: D.

The Vikings looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Rodrick Pleasant at the Round 1 slot regardless, 465 picks early.

That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Rodrick Pleasant
Rodrick Pleasant at No. 12 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick43 Rnd2 Raul Aguirre Jr.
A wild overpay on Raul Aguirre Jr. in pick 43, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick74 Rnd3 Tim Keenan III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tim Keenan III. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97 Rnd3 Mark Fletcher Jr.
They reached a country mile for Mark Fletcher Jr. at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick169 Rnd5 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in pick No. 169 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick206 Rnd6 Justin Joly
Circle this one: Justin Joly at the 206th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227 Rnd7 Le'Veon Moss
The board fumbled Le'Veon Moss all the way to the 227th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jerand Bradley
A big swing on Jerand Bradley at pick No. 237, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
