Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Buccaneers and Mendoza: B+.

The Buccaneers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Fernando Mendoza fell into slot 142. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Freeling pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Anthony Hill Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick58 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
A safety of that caliber at the 58th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick86 Rnd3 Monroe Freeling
This one needs a full-page explanation: Monroe Freeling in pick 86, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at pick No. 122 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick142 Rnd5 Fernando Mendoza
The board fumbled Fernando Mendoza all the way to the 142nd overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
