Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Bears get a C+. The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Tyreak Sapp, taking him 48 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
So much rides on Zion Young that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Zion Young
In the 25th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Tyreak Sapp
Tyreak Sapp at Round 2, Pick 25 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
They reached a country mile for Kenyatta Jackson Jr. at pick 89, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
No drama and no debate, Keylan Rutledge went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick164
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at slot 164 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick239
Rnd7
London Humphreys
London Humphreys at pick No. 239 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick241
Rnd7
Tony Grimes
No edge and no loss on Tony Grimes in Round 7, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
