Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedA- TradesF FutureC
The Bears got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent slot 105 on Mario Williams, a name most had 34 spots down the list. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hancock.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
In slot 2 they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in the 33rd pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick41 Rnd2 Emery Jones
Emery Jones in Round 2, Pick 9 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick73 Rnd3 Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at the 73rd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick105 Rnd4 Mario Williams
Mario Williams at pick 105 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock in pick No. 137 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169 Rnd6 Billy Bowman Jr.
They did well to land Billy Bowman Jr. in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick189 Rnd6 Eli Cox
They took Eli Cox at par in Round 6, Pick 29, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
