TDBUCS DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers

Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
B

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Buccaneers: B. Call it larceny. A.J. Haulcy sat on the board until slot 77, and the Buccaneers did not need to be asked twice. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Curry has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Rodriguez pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver still on the board. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get the heartbeat of the defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 14 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick77
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
They robbed the room for A.J. Haulcy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82
Rnd3
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at pick 82 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jacob Rodriguez adds a linebacker and leaves wide receiver untouched.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jack Endries
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Endries at the 98th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
They liked Demond Claiborne enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 5. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick116
Rnd4
Skyler Gill-Howard
Skyler Gill-Howard at pick No. 116 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
Nice patience on Trinidad Chambliss, who had no business lasting to the 131st overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick135
Rnd4
David Oke
David Oke at slot 135 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick153
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
The board had Davison Igbinosun higher than No. 153, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick229
Rnd7
Micah Morris
Micah Morris in pick No. 229 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
