Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-.

Nobody else had Skyler Gill-Howard anywhere near slot 97. The Buccaneers did, by 35 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

It is not that Allen is a bad player; it is that the Buccaneers had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Altmyer steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 21 they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick46 Rnd2 CJ Allen
A want over a need in pick 46: CJ Allen adds a linebacker while edge rusher keeps waiting.
Pick77 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Connor Lew at the 77th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick85 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at Round 3, Pick 21 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Skyler Gill-Howard
This one needs a full-page explanation: Skyler Gill-Howard in No. 97, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick116 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at pick No. 116 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick153 Rnd5 Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at Round 5, Pick 15 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick193 Rnd6 DJ Harvey
DJ Harvey in the 193rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick194 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in the 194th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick213 Rnd6 Luke Altmyer
Luke Altmyer slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the quarterback. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick229 Rnd7 Micah Morris
They jumped the gun on Micah Morris, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
