Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in slot 210: the Patriots steal Dennis-Sutton and grade out a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Dani Dennis-Sutton at the 210th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In slot 30 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62 Rnd2 David Bailey
They robbed the room for David Bailey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick94 Rnd3 Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate in pick 94 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Trevor Goosby
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Trevor Goosby in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130 Rnd4 Jonah Coleman
You do not let a running back like Jonah Coleman reach Round 4, Pick 30 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170 Rnd5 Daylen Everette
The board fumbled Daylen Everette all the way to pick No. 170, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick192 Rnd6 Dillon Thieneman
A safety of that caliber at the 192nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick199 Rnd6 Romello Height
They will replay Romello Height at the 199th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick207 Rnd6 Eric Singleton Jr.
Eric Singleton Jr. at No. 207 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick210 Rnd6 Dani Dennis-Sutton
Dani Dennis-Sutton at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick245 Rnd7 Akheem Mesidor
They barely believed it either: Akheem Mesidor still on the board at the 245th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
