TDBUCS DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers

Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

NeedB-

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers spent real capital to be 38 picks early on Kamran James, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The Endries steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Spending an early pick on linebacker with wide receiver open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 21st pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick46
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A curious use of pick No. 46. Wide receiver needed the pick; a linebacker in Sonny Styles did not.
Pick77
Rnd3
Connor Lew
A slide stopped in No. 77, with Connor Lew worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick82
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
They read the board right and Domonique Orange was the payoff at the 82nd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
A quiet steal in pick 85: Malik Muhammad for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick116
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Jack Endries at slot 116 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick153
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher at No. 153 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick193
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia at slot 193 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick214
Rnd6
Gunner Stockton
The board had Gunner Stockton higher than the Round 6 slot, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick229
Rnd7
Kamran James
They talked themselves into Kamran James at Round 7, Pick 13, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick240
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
They liked Rueben Owens II enough to skip the value, taking him in the 240th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
