FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Buccaneers. The Kamran James pick is the one that will follow the Buccaneers into the fall. They took him 74 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Klare pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick46
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Sonny Styles worth more than the price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick77
Rnd3
Max Klare
Max Klare in the 77th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82
Rnd3
Connor Lew
A quiet steal in slot 82: Connor Lew for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick85
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
They will replay Keionte Scott at the 85th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick116
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DeMonte Capehart. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick153
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Drew Allar at Round 5, Pick 15. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick193
Rnd6
Kamran James
They talked themselves into Kamran James at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick214
Rnd6
Hykeem Williams
They paid up for Hykeem Williams at No. 214 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick229
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
They reached into another round for Jordan Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick234
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
A conviction pick on Rueben Owens II at slot 234 that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
