Draft Grade — Buccaneers

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Buccaneers. The Trinidad Chambliss pick is the one that will follow the Buccaneers into the fall. They took him 58 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will answer for taking linebacker early while tight end and running back went begging. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Washington falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 17 they get a three-down second-level presence. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
They bypassed pressing needs at tight end and running back to take Sonny Styles, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick75
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington is a better player than Round 3, Pick 11 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
They let Keith Abney II come to them and pounced at the 79th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trinidad Chambliss well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu in slot 151 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick192
Rnd6
Princewill Umanmielen
Princewill Umanmielen in No. 192 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick229
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at the 229th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick243
Rnd7
Joenel Aguero
They took Joenel Aguero at par in pick 243, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
