Tomas Ferro DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Cardinals. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. Jared Wilson, the No. 111 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 153rd pick. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will need Cross III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In pick 16 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick47
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
They took Jonah Savaiinaea at par in slot 47, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick78
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter at Round 3, Pick 14 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick114
Rnd4
Howard Cross III
Howard Cross III at slot 114 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick153
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in pick 153 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
