A costly weekend of dealing drags the Jets to a C-.

The Jets torched the value chart for Oluwafemi Oladejo, taking him 70 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In No. 9 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick42 Rnd2 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in slot 42 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Oluwafemi Oladejo. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick93 Rnd3 Savion Williams
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Savion Williams. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalen Milroe in pick No. 110. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick145 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in Round 5, Pick 7 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the 162nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick186 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tyler Batty well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick207 Rnd6 R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens at No. 207 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
