Draft Grade — Jets
Overall C+
ValueD NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets did enough to get by: C+.

There is reaching, and then there is Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 2 slot. The Jets jumped the board by 140 and dared it to prove them wrong. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

However the rest shakes out, Leonard at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.

Hit on Armand Membou and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In pick No. 7 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 42, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick73 Rnd3 Deone Walker
They went early on Deone Walker in Round 3, Pick 9, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick110 Rnd4 Sai'vion Jones
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sai'vion Jones well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick145 Rnd5 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in the 145th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick186 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in pick 186 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick207 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
A big swing on Isaac TeSlaa at the 207th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
