The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Slater pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Campbell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
