Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Giants finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Carson Beck is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Lawson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. The McCoy steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carson Beck
They took Carson Beck at par in pick No. 6, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick38 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in pick 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
No drama and no debate, Donovan Jackson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102 Rnd4 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at slot 102 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134 Rnd5 Alfred Collins
A premium they did not need to pay, Alfred Collins a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick144 Rnd5 Reuben Fatheree II
They paid sticker price for Reuben Fatheree II in No. 144, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166 Rnd6 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 166th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick198 Rnd7 Bru McCoy
Bru McCoy in Round 7, Pick 6 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216 Rnd7 Deontae Lawson
They reached a country mile for Deontae Lawson at pick 216, and the board is aghast. It adds depth where they could use a little.
