FutureD
Grand theft in pick 121: the Packers steal Beck and grade out a B. You could see the war room lean forward. Carson Beck at Round 4, Pick 19 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Every board in the league had Freeling lower, and that gap is the story. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In the 21st pick they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick22
Rnd1
Malik Muhammad
Fair-plus on Malik Muhammad, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Monroe Freeling
Monroe Freeling in Round 2, Pick 21 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick85
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Taking Nicholas Singleton in the 85th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick121
Rnd4
Carson Beck
A quarterback of that caliber at pick 121 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick160
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
A premium they did not need to pay, Davison Igbinosun a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick199
Rnd6
Nic Anderson
They reached a country mile for Nic Anderson at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234
Rnd7
Akheem Mesidor
Akheem Mesidor at slot 234 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
