Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
D-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
The Packers bled value on every deal, hence the D-. The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 250 on Thor Griffith a full 68 spots early. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Getting Royals where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Mike Green
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Green at the 23rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick54
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
They paid sticker price for Donovan Ezeiruaku in No. 54, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick56
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at slot 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
No edge and no loss on Maxwell Hairston in the 62nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
They barely believed it either: Jalen Royals still on the board at pick No. 87. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick124
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Smael Mondon Jr. at Round 4, Pick 22 is the proof. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick159
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 159 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169
Rnd5
CJ West
CJ West at pick No. 169 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
By-the-book stuff, Caleb Rogers at the 198th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick206
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
A big swing on Carson Vinson at the 206th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick237
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at pick 237 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick250
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
A real head-scratcher, Thor Griffith in No. 250 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
