Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Chargers.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chargers reached some 60 spots for Marcus Yarns, and value like that does not grow back.

Hunter falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the 30th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick 55 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jack Bech
No drama and no debate, Jack Bech went about where he belonged in the 62nd pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick125 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
They went early on Malachi Moore in pick No. 125, and the value did not follow. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick158 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in Round 5, Pick 20 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod in Round 6, Pick 5 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick199 Rnd6 Marcus Yarns
They left a pile of value on the table to take Marcus Yarns this early at the 199th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick209 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II is a better player than pick 209 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jarquez Hunter
Jarquez Hunter at pick No. 214 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick256 Rnd7 LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
