FutureB-
The Packers bled value on every deal, hence the D+. The Ahmed Hassanein selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 99 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
Trapilo at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Packers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the 23rd pick they get a true top target, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick66
Rnd3
Trey Amos
They let Trey Amos come to them and pounced at pick No. 66. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Steal is underselling it; Jayden Higgins at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Maxwell Hairston at No. 88 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor is a better player than Round 3, Pick 25 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick106
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
You do not let a linebacker like Barrett Carter reach pick 106 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick123
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in slot 123 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick125
Rnd4
Ahmed Hassanein
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ahmed Hassanein well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
A conviction pick on Ty Robinson at No. 143 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick165
Rnd5
Ozzy Trapilo
The board fumbled Ozzy Trapilo all the way to the 165th pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick166
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown in the 166th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Nohl Williams
They paid up for Nohl Williams at pick 169 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick184
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick217
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in pick No. 217 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jonas Sanker
Jonas Sanker at slot 223 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick239
Rnd7
Barryn Sorrell
Value said wait; Barryn Sorrell in pick 239 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251
Rnd7
Brady Cook
Brady Cook at the 251st overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick256
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
They will replay Teddye Buchanan at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick257
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
