Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in slot 177: the Chargers steal Parrish and grade out a B.

Somebody in No. 177 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chargers sat still while Jacob Parrish, the No. 125 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They are betting Walker proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
They took TreVeyon Henderson at par in slot 57, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jake Majors
Jake Majors in pick 86 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick113 Rnd4 David Walker
David Walker at the 113th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in pick No. 124 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick159 Rnd5 Terrance Ferguson
They will replay Terrance Ferguson at No. 159 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177 Rnd5 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at the 177th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick183 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at Round 6, Pick 5 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
The board fumbled Jaylen Reed all the way to pick 201, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick215 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier in Round 6, Pick 37 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Chimere Dike
Circle this one: Chimere Dike at the 220th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick253 Rnd7 Brady Cook
A premium they did not need to pay, Brady Cook a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
