Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Cowboys. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Quinn Ewers a full 48 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
However the rest shakes out, Alexander at that price is a win they earned. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In No. 12 they get juice off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44
Rnd2
Quinn Ewers
They talked themselves into Quinn Ewers at pick No. 44, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Quinshon Judkins in the 76th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick150
Rnd5
Tory Horton
You do not let a wide receiver like Tory Horton reach pick 150 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick170
Rnd5
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at slot 170 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172
Rnd5
Kobe King
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Kobe King in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
They let RJ Harvey come to them and pounced at pick 174. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick190
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
A straight-up fair deal on Nazir Stackhouse at Round 6, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick211
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie at the 211th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
Torricelli Simpkins III at pick No. 249 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
