Draft Grade — Packers
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureB+
The Packers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D+.

Nobody had Tyler Batty this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 64 spots to get him at pick No. 160. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That Pegues pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

The veteran additions, DK Metcalf chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a rangy last line of defense at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick54 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
A reasonable price with a little left over, Maxwell Hairston in the 82nd overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at pick 87 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick123 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
By-the-book stuff, Darius Alexander at the 123rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
The board fumbled Jared Wilson all the way to pick No. 131, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick160 Rnd5 Tyler Batty
They reached into another round for Tyler Batty, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at slot 161 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Logan Brown at pick 163. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick164 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in No. 164 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
No drama and no debate, Quincy Riley went about where he belonged in the 171st pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
The board had Ollie Gordon II higher than pick No. 175, and the running back fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200 Rnd6 CJ West
The board had cheaper options than CJ West at Round 6, Pick 22, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jacob Parrish
They paid up for Jacob Parrish at the 206th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
Steal is underselling it; JJ Pegues at pick No. 208 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson at the 212th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
A quiet steal in slot 225: Theo Wease Jr. for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick229 Rnd7 Brady Cook
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brady Cook. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Nick Martin
They reached a country mile for Nick Martin at No. 231, and the board is aghast. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jonas Sanker
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jonas Sanker in pick 236, plain and simple. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick239 Rnd7 Nohl Williams
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nohl Williams in Round 7, Pick 21, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick251 Rnd7 Kain Medrano
A wild overpay on Kain Medrano in the 251st overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick252 Rnd7 Joshua Simon
Joshua Simon at pick No. 252 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
