Draft Grade — Packers

FutureD
The Packers won the night they stopped Hampton from sliding. Grade: B+. You build a draft on nights like this. Omarion Hampton had no business being available in the 196th pick, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In pick 24 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Trey Amos
They did well to land Trey Amos in slot 54, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick87
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in pick No. 87 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick123
Rnd4
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in Round 4, Pick 22 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at the 158th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick196
Rnd6
Omarion Hampton
Steal is underselling it; Omarion Hampton at the 196th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jeffrey Bassa
They will replay Jeffrey Bassa at No. 208 for years; that is how good the value is. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick237
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
You do not let a tight end like Oronde Gadsden II reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jonas Sanker
The board fumbled Jonas Sanker all the way to the 250th pick, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
