Draft Grade — Packers

The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Simon: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Cody Simon tumbling to the Packers in pick 196 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They are betting Covington proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In pick No. 23 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick54
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 22 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick87
Rnd3
Colston Loveland
Taking Colston Loveland in the 87th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122
Rnd4
Deone Walker
They will replay Deone Walker at pick 122 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick158
Rnd5
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick196
Rnd6
Cody Simon
Circle this one: Cody Simon at the 196th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in No. 237 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jacobe Covington
They reached into another round for Jacobe Covington, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
