Draft Grade — Packers

FutureC+
Grand theft in pick No. 250: the Packers steal Skattebo and grade out a C+. The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. The final tally is a middling C+.
They will need Batty to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 87 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick88
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the 88th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122
Rnd4
Charles Grant
Charles Grant in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick158
Rnd5
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at the 158th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196
Rnd6
Tyler Batty
A wild overpay on Tyler Batty in pick No. 196, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick237
Rnd7
Smael Mondon Jr.
Taking Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 237 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick250
Rnd7
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at the 250th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
