Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB+
TradesC+
FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Packers: C+. The Packers did not so much draft Agiye Hall as overpay for him, 137 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
Getting Mondon Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The Isaac Guerendo deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Mike Green
In slot 23 they get a double-digit-sack hope, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch in the 55th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in Round 3, Pick 23 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick122
Rnd4
Maxwell Hairston
The board fumbled Maxwell Hairston all the way to No. 122, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick123
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette slid further than he should have, and the 123rd pick is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick158
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at pick No. 158 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick196
Rnd6
Smael Mondon Jr.
They will replay Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 196 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick199
Rnd6
Cody Simon
Somehow Cody Simon was still sitting there in No. 199, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick200
Rnd6
Tyler Batty
A big swing on Tyler Batty at the 200th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in pick No. 237 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick250
Rnd7
Agiye Hall
They talked themselves into Agiye Hall at the 250th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick251
Rnd7
Mitchell Evans
They reached a country mile for Mitchell Evans at pick 251, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick254
Rnd7
Giles Jackson
They reached into another round for Giles Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Fred Davis
They left a pile of value on the table to take Fred Davis this early at Round 7, Pick 39. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
