Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall C+
ValueF NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Chargers fleeced the room on the phones and earned a C+.

Nobody had Khris Bogle this high, and it is not close. The Chargers reached 263 spots to get him at slot 181. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

The Campbell steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

The Derrick Brown pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 RJ Oben
In No. 22 they get a premier pass rusher, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Derrick Harmon in pick No. 55, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jasheen Davis
Jasheen Davis at slot 158 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181 Rnd6 Khris Bogle
A real head-scratcher, Khris Bogle in pick 181 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick199 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
You do not let an offensive lineman like Ajani Cornelius reach the 199th pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick208 Rnd6 Robbie Ouzts
A big swing on Robbie Ouzts at pick No. 208, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jordan Burch
Taking Jordan Burch in pick 209 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jihaad Campbell
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick256 Rnd7 Will Howard
Somehow Will Howard was still sitting there in No. 256, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. A need, and now a little less of one.
