Best value of the weekend goes to the Saints for Belton: B+.

Somebody in pick 164 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Saints sat still while Anthony Belton, the No. 115 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

It is not that Carter is a bad player; it is that the Saints had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Adding A.J. Cann by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
