Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D+
ValueF NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Chiefs have some explaining to do after a D+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 339 spots for Marcus Dumervil, and value like that does not grow back.

The Sanders pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Marcus Dumervil
In the 31st pick they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Luke Lachey
A real head-scratcher, Luke Lachey in slot 63 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Sam Brown Jr.
They reached a country mile for Sam Brown Jr. at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Howard Cross III
Howard Cross III at No. 95 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick133 Rnd4 Cam Horsley
Cam Horsley in pick 133 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick226 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
Steal is underselling it; Raheim Sanders at the 226th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick251 Rnd7 Justin Walley
A big swing on Justin Walley at pick No. 251, well ahead of any board in the building. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jackson Woodard
Jackson Woodard at slot 257 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
