Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Browns answered their biggest question with Dart. Grade: C+.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jaxson Dart is the Browns' quarterback, full stop. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

The Longerbeam pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Nash at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jaxson Dart
In No. 30 they get the arm they will build around, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Dylan Sampson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dylan Sampson well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick56 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams in Round 3, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick94 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in pick 94 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104 Rnd4 Will Howard
They took Will Howard at par in pick No. 104, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick109 Rnd4 Sebastian Castro
Taking Sebastian Castro in slot 109 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick179 Rnd6 Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam in the 179th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick192 Rnd6 Nick Nash
Nick Nash in No. 192 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jay Toia
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jay Toia. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Fadil Diggs
They left a pile of value on the table to take Fadil Diggs this early at pick No. 206. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216 Rnd6 RJ Oben
RJ Oben at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick255 Rnd7 Donovan Smith
Donovan Smith at pick 255 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
