Draft Grade — Packers
Overall D-
ValueF NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Packers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 125 spots for John Williams, and value like that does not grow back. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

Taylor falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jackson Slater
A wild overpay on Jackson Slater in slot 54, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick87 Rnd3 Princely Umanmielen
Princely Umanmielen at the 87th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick124 Rnd4 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in pick No. 124 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick144 Rnd5 John Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for John Williams. It fills a real need, too.
Pick159 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
Steal is underselling it; Mason Taylor at the 159th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198 Rnd6 Shemar James
They left a pile of value on the table to take Shemar James this early at pick 198. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick249 Rnd7 Dante Trader Jr.
Dante Trader Jr. at the 249th pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick250 Rnd7 Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks in slot 250 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick252 Rnd7 Will Sheppard
Will Sheppard at Round 7, Pick 36 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
