FutureA
Sanders is the Raiders' new face under center. Grade: B-. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Stone Handy at slot 108 is 254 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They banked enough surplus on Frazier to cover a lot of smaller sins. The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick No. 6 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick68
Rnd3
Elic Ayomanor
No edge and no loss on Elic Ayomanor in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick104
Rnd4
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in the 104th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick108
Rnd4
Stone Handy
Stone Handy at No. 108 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick143
Rnd5
Mac McWilliams
Mac McWilliams at pick 143 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick180
Rnd6
Moliki Matavao
Moliki Matavao at the 180th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick213
Rnd6
Kitan Crawford
They talked themselves into Kitan Crawford at Round 6, Pick 37, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in pick 215 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick248
Rnd7
Da'Quan Felton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Da'Quan Felton. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254
Rnd7
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at No. 254 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Graham Mertz
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Graham Mertz well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
